5th Scale Dirt Late Model

Bodies:
- Maximum overall body length 46″. This measurement will include the spoiler and end caps to the front bumper. See picture at the end of these rules. (Fig-1)
- Maximum width where deck and A post meet and where rear quarter panel and deck meet 20″.
- Maximum width at front flopper’s widest point 26″.
- Maximum Deck to Roof height is 4 ½ inches.
- Roof to Deck Height Rake Front to Back ¾” Maximin. Roof must have rigid supports.
- Must have the Woo/Lucas appearance (No wedge style bodies).
- Only holes allowed in deck are for Spark plug and Transponder.
- There will be no metal body parts of any kind. Roll cage and body
supports can be metal. - No part of the deck can be higher than 12″ from ground.


Rear Spoiler Specs:
- Rear spoiler can only be as wide as the body at the rear quarter panels.
- Rear spoiler 5″ max from deck.
- The end caps must be a triangle shape and be in proportion to today’s Late Models.
- The End Caps most be within the template supplied with these rules.
- You may have one fin on the spoiler and two side caps.
- The 3rd fin must also be the same dimension as side cap.
- The 3rd fin can be located anywhere on the spoiler between the two side caps.
- The 3rd fin must be in line with the side caps on the front leading edge.

UMP Style Bodies:
- Maximum overall length 45 inches.
- Maximum deck width 19 inches. (At no point can the deck be lower than ¾ inch from the top of the doors).
- Maximum deck height is 12 inches from rear of deck to ground.
- The front deck height must be a minimum of 8 inches high from ground.
- Nose width can be a max of 10 inches at front/bottom leading edge. (Edges/lips on the sides of the nose can be no taller than ½ inch).
- The hood must tapered out to the “A” post the full width of the deck. (Meaning the rear of the hood must be the same width as the front of the deck).
- Door panels can be a max of 28 inches long.
- Roof dimensions:
- 14 inches wide maximum.
- 12 inches long maximum.
- Maximum height from deck to roof is 4.5 inches. Maximum ½ inch of rake. (Meaning the front can be no more than ½ inch lower than the rear measured from the deck).
- Sail panel can be a maximum of 12 inches long if attached to the spoiler. A maximum of 10 inches long if side boards are used. The sail panel must taper down from the roof to the spoiler. (It cannot be squared off).
- Sail panel must be closed. (Window between “A” pillar and sail panel must be open and must be a minimum of 3 inches tall).
- Spoiler maximum height is 3 inches.
- Spoiler side boards max of 3 inches long, 3 inches high at rear, and 1.5 inches high at the front.
- Rear spoiler can be no wider than the body.
- No air scoops that direct air for motor or cooling.
- No Aero devices in/on decking.
- Must have todays Open Wheel UMP Modified appearance.
EDM and Big Block Mod Bodies:
- Maximum overall length 42”
- Maximum width of deck at any point 18”
- Maximum width of nose at front/bottom leading edge 10”
- Maximum length of side panels 30”
- Maximum width of side panels 9½”
- Maximum height of roof at any point 5 ½” from deck
- Roof maximum width 15” length 14”
- Maximum height of sail panel from deck 6”
- No air scoops that direct air for motor cooling. No aero devices in/on deck
- There will be no metal body parts of any kind. Roll cage and body supports can be metal
- Must have appearance of current EDM car, refer to pic.
- No part of deck can be higher than 12” from bottom side to ground
Rear Spoiler Specs:
- Rear spoiler can only be as wide as the body at the rear quarter panels
- Rear spoiler 3” max from deck

General
– Same Chassis\Tire\Motor rules as 1/5 Open Modified
– All cage and body components such as cage, bumpers, nerf bars, hoods, side panels, tanks, etc. must be mounted on the centerline of the cage.
– Body is always subject to track approval
(All measurements taken from bottom of chassis)
- Cage – Sprint cars must have a scale appearing contemporary cage made from rounded, square or rectangular stock (Any material). The cage must be symmetrical left to right and mounted level to the chassis. Unrealistic shaped cages designed to exploit the rules below are not permitted.
- Maximum cage width at driver halo, down tubes, and top frame rail: 9″.
- Bumpers – A flat, curved or tubular front bumper (or combination of) must be used and may not be designed to direct air or create downforce.
- Nerf Bars – Scale appearing side nerf bars must be used on both sides of the car. A scale appearing rear hoop style bumper must be used. Bumpers and nerf bars must be made with no sharp edges.
- Tail tank – A traditional scale appearing rounded style three- dimensional rear fuel cell must be used.
- Headers – Three- dimensional scale appearing exhaust headers are optional
- Side panels – Flat side panels may be molded or fabricated. Openings on both sides of cage in driver compartment must be open in realistic form. (Note that the top wing mounts may cover these openings for winged classes.
- Hood Area – A scale appearing hood must be used and is defined as beginning at the front axle and ending at the front of the driver cockpit. The hood must be symmetrical from left to right.
Wings
Front wing/mounts – The front wing center section may not extend in front of the front bumper.
Front Center Max – 9″ x 8″
Front Sides Max – 8″ x 4″
Top wing/mounts
Top Center Max – 18″ x 15″
Top Sides Max – 19″ x 9″
- Center section and side panel corners and edges must be rounded and free of sharp edges. Main and Front wings must be mounted so that they are centered on cage, no offset wings.
- Wing center sections must have all 4 corners set at 90 degree angles, no canted or angled panels. Wings must also be mounted level from side to side.
- Side panels must have braces that hold side panel rigid at 90deg. to center section during race conditions. Two braces are required from top of the center foil to the left side-board and one brace is permitted below the center foil to the right side-board.
- Braces can be a maximum of 1″ wide and front edge of front brace must be no more than 1.5” back from side panel leading edge. Side Panels may have front, back, top and bottom turnouts of no more than .5″ and are included in max dimension. Center sections will be allowed a .75″ wicker and a turndown at the leading edge.
Chassis & Suspension

- Must be 1/5 production based stamped aluminum 2 WD 5B buggy chassis.
- No carbon fiber chassis
- No shortened, extended, offset or flat style chassis allowed. All chassis and motor plate dimensions, shape, and configuration must remain stock.
- All parts must be stock or aftermarket stock style Baja upgrades. (Durability only).
- 16 MM bore stock type shock only.
- Tethers, limiters and compensators are allowed.
- All A arms must be stock dimensions. (No extended A arms).
- Rear toe must be adjusted at the rear hubs.
- Wheel extenders allowed. (2” maximum per wheel).
- Adjustable front and rear shock towers allowed.
- All components must remain in stock locations. (including the battery).
- No shimming or spacers under mounting points to chassis.
- Rear tow may be adjusted at rear hub carrier only.
- No ballast/weight allowed anywhere on chassis or body.
- No metal or carbon fiber front bumpers.
- All parts must be available to the public from a Store front/Track hobby shop or on-line store.
- No homemade chassis or suspension parts of any kind.
- No two speeds.

- Stock A-Arms must be used (Right Rear can be upgraded, but must still maintain stock dimensions)
- Stock Gear Carrier must be used (with the 4 rubber grommets)
- Mad Max Tires (OEM Grooves only- no regrooving or additional grooves), no modifications to rubber (inside or out)

ENGINE RULES

OPEN ENGINE:
1. Size: 23cc to 30.5cc max.
2. Piston port only. (No reed valve).
3. Stock style/size flywheel. (No excessive lightening of flywheel allowed due to safety).
4. Stock style head/cylinder only.
5. Exhaust Can Style Only. (DDM# CY-15483). You may weld the stinger or add a plate around the Stinger. (You may port match the muffler to the exhaust port of the head. NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS ALLOWED.
STOCK ENGINE:
1. Zenoah G290RC (DDM #bb211) Engine Only as supplied from Zenoah.
2. Stock Zenoah replacement parts only unless specified in these rules. (NO MODIFICATIONS)
3. No porting, grinding or modification to the Intake, Cylinder Head, Ports or Crank Case.
4. 3rd bearing must be used, (DDM Prt# DD271, Zenoah prt# 06034-06001)
5. Crank bearings must be stock Zenoah replacement bearings only. (DDM prt#DD261, Zenoah prt#1155-21240). Small seal on flywheel side must retain spring (no modification)
6. Walbro WT-990 Carburetor Only. (NO MODIFICATIONS).
7. May set pop off. (Change or cut Spring).
8. No spiral diaphragms allowed.
9. May run ball bearings on the throttle shaft. (Stock throttle shaft ONLY).
10. Cylinder head base gasket must be DDM# CA336 or CA337 ONLY.
11. May run the stock intake and gaskets or the DDM# AV540 intake any color with supplied gaskets or
gaskets of same dimensions. No Modifications.
12. Any commercially available Air Filter, Filter Adaptor or Velocity Stack.
13. Muffler CY-15483 Only. May weld muffler stinger or add a plate around the Stinger. (NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS).
14. 1 exhaust gasket only. (May use the stock gasket or copper Gasket).
15. Zenoah stock Clutch Assembly Only. Must use Zenoah clutch plate. (NO MODIFICATIONS).
16. May run any clutch spring.
17. No high response clutches
Engine Non-Tech items
1. Clutch Housing.
2. Fan Cover.
3. Engine Cover.
4. Starting System.
5. May repair stripped holes with HELI-COILS. (Location and Size must remain same as stock).
Wheel & Tire Specs:
- Rubber tires only!
- All wheels must be bead lock buggy based.
- Must be 1/5 scale.
- Cutting, siping and grooving are allowed.
- Traction compounds are allowed.
- Mods and Sprints must run Narrow Fronts
- Tire option left up to track owner or promoter

Electronics:
- Stability/Gyro control for steering only (Stock LM see approved List)
- Full AVC may be track option.
